We redesigned the reception area, the eating area, the meeting rooms and created a relax room in the space. We redefined the niches of the corridor in order to create small relaxing areas that can be used for quick and non-formal meetings.

Airbnb US Headquarters Expansion by Airbnb Environments Team and WRNS Studio, San Francisco – California

The Environments Team translated this new feature into a physical space by assigning each floor to a different city: Buenos Aires, Kyoto, Jaipur and Amsterdam, styling each one of the floor’s cafes in relation to that city, the color, patterns and materials reflecting the local culture.

Very little of the building’s original structure is covered up. Overhead ductwork is left exposed, original steel columns protrude from new walls and original brick walls remain visible, revealing the building’s historic underpinnings while offering functional work and performance space to employees and guests.

The main design attractions include the feature timber wall, the luminous textile panels triggered by motion and the network of exposed building services arranged to resemble art on the ceiling. Injections of bright purple, yellow and green were introduced into both the furniture and walls.
