El Curry Verde restaurant by Hiruki Studio, Hondarribia – Spain

The design challenge was to create a hospitality interior that felt amiable, fresh but not “too girly”, cozy enough for late intimate nights but with an openness that would let them organize cooking workshops as well. The palette of materials and colors were to be the predominant white color with hints of yellow, turquoise, wood, colorful lamps and plants: the result was warmth but bright space even during the dark winter days.

When starting the design process, the main concern was to create an easy going experience with a bold concept, since the exhibition had to contain more than 100 re-edited black and white pictures, original photographs, and the original cameras Mr. Martín used along his career.

Hiruki studio has developed a museography and illustration project that aims to encourage the viewer to observe the filigree work of the lace and feel the textures, playing with it throughout the space, combining opacity and transparency, as the master of lace did in his creations.
