Aesop store by Suh Architects, Seoul – South Korea

Central to the store, a steel vessel for Aesop’s skincare bottles bears not only the weight of the main counter but the store’s identity. This ‘perched’ smooth mass is crafted from 3mm rolled steel whose shade was carefully coordinated with the indigenous Korean quartz and felts selected.

Apple store by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, New York City

Joints between light boxes that span across the ceilings follow the white steel beams. The signature chunky oak wood tables below are also oriented to echo these lines. Features include a large 6K video screen for product demos and entertainment, and cube seats that can be moved around during workshops and presentations.

Warehouse store by Checkland Kindleysides, London – UK

A single run cast concrete staircase descends into the 183 square-metre basement and lands to face the back focal point of the store. This positioning subtly encourages a journey around the space, allowing you to fully explore key collections before arriving at the fitting rooms.

To bring out the theme, the large stainless steel logo signage hanged from ceiling and glittering down there, whereas a row of bamboo-like down lights are working behind it as a backdrop as they spread from above of ticket box counter to the where the ticket machines are.

Apple store by Foster & Partners, Brussels – Belgium

Light boxes extend the length of the ceiling, similar to those found in Foster + Partner’s Apple Store in Hangzhou, China. Rows of the chunky tables made from sequoia wood present laptops, phones and tablets, while accessories are displayed inside a case that runs along the longest wall.

The design duo used untreated plywood to build a natural, inventive universe. The bar is located in a cellar and yet has been instilled with a light and airy atmosphere thanks to the uncoated wood and the use of a singular colour – a fresh turquoise that spreads across the floors and selected furnishings.

Standardized boxes of this kind are mostly ordered by hospitals and similar customers. Here, they meet with an entirely new task. Pipes used for the tripod are joined by massive cast aluminium fittings otherwise typically used for handrails in trams or buses.
