Virgen del Carmen Bar by Estudio Arn Arquitectos, Santa Pola – Spain

Externally, the walls were found covered by different layers of paint and mortar. Internally, a brick wall covered with tiles, hid the original ashlar and masonry walls. Two levels of false ceilings placed at different heights prevented the view of the original wooden structure which composed the roof of the building.

The club is designed with dark hardwood flooring. An eleven-meter long bar with solid brass surface and bricked base marks the bar area. Cubist wallpaper ensures a psychedelic moment.

The store activity is linked to package traffic, cardboard containers in which travel purchased products, which are collected in this new architectural space. A small counter where to exchange these packages of hands, solves all the functional requirements of the trade.

Starbucks Coffee, Portland

This is the first company-branded store in Oregon to serve beer and wine alongside Starbucks’ coffee and tea beverages and to offer customers an elevated evening food program. For a new, unique look while maintaining the iconic Starbucks brand, designers developed an Artisan Concept echoing the industrial past of urban markets. Inspired by 1930s Modernism, the motif includes exposed steel beams, masonry walls, factory casement glass, and hand-polished woodwork.
