When you do get inside, however, a quintessential British pub awaits, and beyond the public recreation rooms lies some terrific accommodation which more than does justice to the architectural framework. Classic furniture blends with more contemporary examples, the baths are grand, the beds four-poster without the unnecessary drapes that would spoil the clean-lined aesthetic. Well worth a visit on every level.

The concept of the hotel is to cut out all hidden costs and remove all unnecessary items, in order to provide its guests a luxury feel for a budget price. The hotel exists of 198 rooms of 14 sq. m, all prefabricated produced in a factory and easy to transport.

The 1871 Bar is industrial chic and references the main hotel colour scheme and Grill Restaurant beyond. designLSM created a raw space that would appeal to a diverse clientele. This was achieved through the use of stripped back concrete columns, surface mounted conduit lighting, brick walls and applying a palette of warm worn browns, tans and reds.

Three Mobile stores by Urban Salon, UK

Inside, the new design aims to create a fresh and welcoming environment where customers are encouraged to browse and buy rather than be sold to. All devices in the store are live as plastic dummy handsets have been removed. This enables customers to try out different handsets for themselves rather than wait for a member of staff to demonstrate the phones for them.

Juicy Couture flagship store by MRA, UK

The interior combines grand details and modern glamour with a playful spirit, fine detailing enhancing the character of the Grade II listed building, with pink glass and brass adding a sense of fun. Highlights include lavish mouldings, a striking marble chequerboard floor and a bespoke chandelier, whilst the iconic Juicy tracksuits are given their own ‘library’.

John Lewis store by Dalziel and Pow, Exeter – UK

The departments are carefully planned to take into account their adjacencies and encourage browsing and cross-selling. Each floor has a square raft of solid ceiling, surrounded by an open ceiling around the perimeter that pushes out into the corners. Walking around that square central zone without the aid of a walkway creates an intuitive circulation that has become a brand signature.
