On the occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2013, in its premise at Fabbrica del Vapore Viafarini presents Hotello, an exhibition project by Roberto de Luca and Antonio Scarponi for Das Konzept – daskonzept.ch – a laboratory for design, retail, and production focusing on new ways to conceive he work environment. In 2009, Das Konzept opened in Thun, Switzerland in Konzepthalle6, an exhibition space that showcases office concepts. In addition o he workstations of Das Konzept itself, Konzepthalle6 also includes a restaurant, a conference room, and a concert room. Das Konzept is a centre of excellence for design and architecture.
At the Fuori Salone 2013 Das Konzept will present two projects that face two of the most problematic issues of ontemporary work environments: acoustics and flexibility. The first project, Hotello, designed by Roberto de Luca and Antonio Scarponi, is a module measuring roughly 2m x 2m x 2m, conceived to use in the empty lofts of the contemporary city. Hotello is a portable space packed into a suitcase. It ontains ll the necessary elements for a minimal room: a room, a desk, a lamp, a stool, a shelf, a locker. Hotello consists of a metal structure that supports a double urtains (translucent and sound absorbent) as well as all the furniture needed to work and rest. The second project, Bord, designed by Charles O. Job, is a inimal workstation made of cork sound absorbent surfaces.
Bord is designed to be transformed so that it can be used in different ways: as a workstation, a eeting table, and an office partition. Viafarini DOCVA exhibition space at Fabbrica del Vapore will be transformed into an open work environment which isitors are welcome to use. The installation will also have a per formative element as it will host the editorial board of the Italian design magazine Abitare international design magazine for the five days of the event. Aperitif from 6.00 – 8.00 p.m. every evening for the duration of the event.
