Arran Aromatics, Scotland’s leading designer, manufacturer and retailer of luxury toiletries and gifts invited Great Brink to create a new pop-up store in Edinburgh’s George Street to help the business attract more attention and to drive forward its growth plan.

The idea behind the concept was to build on their existing brand ambassadors by reflecting the nature of island life on Arran in the shop and encouraging visitors to the store to take a little piece of Arran home with them.

The feature washstand, which allows staff to have a personal experience with visitors, encourages people to linger for longer, trying out different soaps, lotions and perfumes and learning about how the products are all made on the island by local people with local ingredients. The concept includes “Island Perfumery”, a bespoke perfume experience where visitors can make their own personalised scent.

The design idea has its roots in the soap making machinery back in Arran. Inspired by the extrusion process still used there, the design features solid oak batons in the display units and heavy steel and stone in the wash basin. The furnishing includes soft fallen antlers and tweed from local estates n Scotland.

All the units were made bespoke in Edinburgh and delivered in a very tight timescale so that this new flagship location could be up and running in time for peak trading during the Edinburgh Festival.
