Located in a picturesque pine forest in Poltava region, Relax Park Verholy hotel complex is one of the most stylish and comfortable hotels of Ukraine. For more than a year its owners, together with YOD design studio, keep implementing innovative and bold ideas. New SPA complex with an indoor swimming pool, gym and hotel rooms is just another result of this collaboration.
New SPA complex was opened at the beginning of 2016. It is a separate building with a maximum of recreational facilities to offer. Previously, there was a club of the Almaz pioneer camp here. Designers had to work hard to reconstruct and modernize the soviet architecture.
SPA complex is functionally zoned in accordance with different kinds of treatments and leisure activities. There are two heated pools on the territory – for children (4×4 m) and for adults (14×7). The second one seems much larger than its actual size due to the optical illusion (walls of the pool bowl dive in water from three sides and there are no boards along the perimeter). Designers have placed comfortable lounge chairsaround the pool, where the guests can relax after swimming. There is also a jacuzzi zone, specially designed for hydromassage lovers.
Modern bath-house can bring not only health benefits but also give an esthetic pleasure. It offers different types of sweat bathes: hammam (Turkish bath), infrared sauna, Russian bath and sanarium (sauna with aromatherapy). There are three massage rooms for classical and bath massage next to it.
For those who cannot imagine their life without sports we designed a spacious fitness room with a wide variety of up-to-date Technogym equipment. Through panoramic windows guests can watch the horses at the local racetrack and enjoy scenic views of a pine forest while exercising. Such approach helps not only to fully sense an outdoor recreation but also makes the building completely dissolve in the environment.
Next to the gym there is a phyto-bar which offers fresh juices and herbal tea, sport nutrition and detox-menu for health improvement and body toning. To make parents’ pastime more peaceful and comfortable, designers have also developed children’s room. While visitors enjoy leisure time, their children are under the supervision of nannies and animators.
There are 17 hotel rooms on the second floor of the new complex. Staying here, guests can go directly to the SPA with no need to go outside. Interior designers kept to the minimalist aesthetics of the whole complex and used natural materials only. Since the hotel rooms on one side face the riding hall, it was decided to consider this fact in the graphic design. To bring the mood to the laconic rooms, designers brightened them with colorful horse pictures, made by photographer Andrey Avdeenko. Most of the horses are participants and winners of All-Ukrainian competitions, owners of the champion cups and medals of different denominations.
The architecture of the building is modern and discreet. The main idea is to let the nature be the main actor on the stage. That is why there are no unnecessary details and strained decisions in this open and laconic area. To make the guests feel closer to the nature, designers used predominantly eco-friendly materials and soft colors. Dimmed lighting gives a feeling of calmness and relaxation.
Among materials used there are veneered plywood, rust-proof metal, glass, HPL-panels, large sized tiles (3000x3000x3 mm) for ventilated facades. To avoid injury in hydrozones, designers applied anti-slip self-leveling floor, resistant to moisture. All materials were chosen by taking into account antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. For example, walls and floor constructions are jointless, that is why dirt does not accumulate and can be easily removed.
Working on the project, designers wanted to maximally integrate the SPA into the environment. As a result they created an area where simplicity and minimalism prevails. Here nature is at the forefront, and nothing distracts from a good rest.
