Massachusetts based artist Clint Baclawski furthers experiments started by the California Light and Space Movement with a series of new photographic works. Titled ‘chromogenic’, ‘vestigial’, ‘death valley’, ‘pink church’, and ‘lush’, the pieces reach beyond the constraints of traditional image composition and framing. In doing so, light becomes reconfigurable, and the bulbs themselves become the medium.
Photographs within the cylindrical compositions form in segments, and engage viewers over-and-over as they move inwards, outwards, and around the works. Each of the five installations mark a distinct approach by Baclawski to further play with methods, formats, and materials that push photography towards unexplored territory.
