One Life Kitchen & Cafe by Studio EM, Dubai – UAE

November 8th, 2016 by retail design blog

One Life Kitchen & Café is based in the heart of Dubai’s D3 Design District and is a modern Café that serves clean, honest and delicious homemade food. The 1500 square foot space is bright and airy with a generous glass front and a delightfully high ceiling.

When designing the space Studio EM wanted to make the most of the natural light as well as to create a design that respected the organic produce served in the kitchen, by developing a design that was, earthy, organic and natural.

As One Life Kitchen & Café is based within Dubai’s buoyant and artistic design district, D3, Studio EM aimed to create a design that paid homage to the creative environment that the café is based within, by creating and developing so many customized design elements.

A large majority of the furniture and carpentry elements within the project were custom designed by the Studio EM team, using recycled timbers and used palettes.

Putting the “Life” into the dining room was an important element that we considered during the concept design phase, we achieved this by creating bespoke planter boxes made from palettes that connected the high ceiling to the dining area as well as our main feature design, the live green wall, which stands out as the main focal point of the café upon entering.
