With the acclaimed Raf Simons firmly in installed as its creative director, the once fledgling Calvin Klein brand is going full throttle to regain its position as a leading brand in the upper echelon of luxury fashion. Along with its creative renaissance the brand has also made strides within the retail arena, opening a striking flagship store last summer on Madison Avenue in New York City. Accelerating the global push of its 305W35NYC main line, the fashion house has crossed the atlantic to open new european headquarters in Paris. American artist Sterling Ruby, who designed the interior of the store in the big apple, was once again commissioned to design the store interior for this new outpost, while New York-based practice Architectural Research Office supervised the architectural design.

The venue, measures an impressive 15,000 sq.ft. [1,394 sqm.] and occupies two floors of a mid-19th century landmark building which once housed the french ministry of postal and telegraph services. The store is combined with a showroom and will also form the backdrop for Calvin Klein 305W35NYC’s catwalk shows during Paris Fashion Week. Upon entering the premises, shoppers find themselves in a monochrome setting featuring fabric cushions, upholstered walls, and a circular curtain. Advancing further into the space, it’s becomes more evident that much of the building’s original elements have been retained in order to support the plentiful of modern interventions.

The walls and vaulted ceiling are painted in a neutral gray hue, making the red and blue hand-painted, splattered canvas from ruby easily stand out. Custom fixtures are paired with an array of highly artistic mobiles with textile touches and life-size soft sculptures. The mezzanine floor has the vibe of a secluded boudoir, and features a blue carpet that’s punctuated by geometric forms of laminate clad tables and pedestals in various colours. The new Calvin Klein 305W35NYC store carries the full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and footwear.
