The Celine boutique at Taikoo Li Sanlitun, the Kengo Kuma-designed, open-air luxury shopping centre in Beijing‘s downtown Sanlitun shopping area, has been given a full makeover and sees an expanded range of offerings. Mind you, the Paris-based fashion house already manages no less than six standalone boutiques in the sprawling Chinese capital. Occupying two floors of a building in the shopping centre’s northern district, the premises now feature the contemporary opulent design codes as laid down by Celine‘s notoriously elusive creative director Hedi Slimane. Pristine white walls, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, large slabs of black and white marble, and flooring of large stone tiles form the backdrop a tightly curated selection of largely wooden furnishings, marble-clad display cabinets, and artworks handpicked by Slimane from the Celine Art Project. Items of the women’s and men’s collection is presented on sleek suspended metal clothing racks, and glass or marble and metal-lined shelving. A major focal point is the travertine staircase encased by chunky bars of shiny bars. The renewed Celine boutique carries the brand’s full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags, small leather goods and jewellery, in addition to its alluring Haute Parfumerie Collection.
