For any luxury brand, it’s a prerequisite to have a retail presence in Hong Kong, and that has certainly been the case with CELINE. The French fashion house has been present here for many years and just upped the ante by fully revamping its double level womenswear boutique at Harbour City, a leading high-end shopping centre in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood. The interior and furnishings design by Hedi Slimane, the brand’s creative director, is unapologetically lavish, and sees a backdrop of marble-clad walls, polished gold brass and mirrored surfaces, shelving units with chrome finishings, and last but not least, carefully curated pieces from the CELINE art collection which Slimane started six years ago.

The range of selected works straddle various eras and movements, from Minimalism and Brutalism, to Bauhaus and Modernism, and their often bold appearance further boosts the sophistication of the various shop settings, and ultimately, also the shopping experience. The line-up of works on the premises includes a number of leading artists from across the planet, such as New York City-based artists Em Rooney and Nick Mauss, and Danish art group A Kassen. As said, the renewed CELINE store exclusively stocks womenswear and this range includes apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, small leather goods, eyewear, jewellery pieces, and of course, the coveted CELINE haute parfumerie collection. © superfuture
