Following the opening in 2017 of FREITAG‘s first store Down Under, in collaboration with local retailer Keoma, the innovative Zurich-based bag brand has teamed up once again to launch a long-awaited outpost in Sydney. Situated in the popular shopping neighbourhood of Surry Hills, the FREITAG store occupies 40 sqm. (431 sq.ft.) on the ground floor of a standalone historic building. First, the structure saw a thorough renovation, carried out by Aspire Building, an award-winning specialist in sustainable building practices which used recycled and upcycled materials and incorporating energy-efficient lighting and insulation, and also updated the building’s water and waste efficiency levels.

Up next, the FREITAG in-house design team created an interior design with all of the brand’s signature elements, including the wall-mounted modular storage units and pegboard displays. The new FREITAG store stocks over 350 one-off bags made from used truck tarps, in addition to a wide range of pouches and accessories. And that’s not all. This FREITAG store has an unexpected surprise up its sleeve because one floor up, Keoma offers lodgings through its Keoma Stay concept which already exists at its home base Melbourne. The homey apartment comes with complimentary FREITAG rental bags along with items from the Keoma store to make the stay as comfortable and practical as possible.
