Power shopping in Milan just got a tad more alluring. We’re talking the iconic fashion house of Valentino‘s revamped retail presence in the Lombard capital. Levelling up with the iconic Valentino flagship store at home base Rome – on historic Piazza di Spagna, to be precise – the Milanese equivalent has upped the grandeur, matching with the city’s stature as a global fashion hub and shopping destination. First opened in 2012 to celebrate the house’s 50th anniversary, on the premises of a palazzo-like building in the downtown Duomo district, it occupies no less than 1,170 sqm. (12,594 sq.ft.) spread across three expansive floors, and has not one, but two entrances which allow shoppers to gain direct access to the women’s and men’s collections respectively.
The chosen aesthetic has a contemporary, understated backdrop of whitewashed walls and flooring, shelving, and display units, all paired with classic accents, captured by a variety of furnishings and light fixtures. On the ground floor, Valentino‘s women’s handbags and small leather goods are presented, in addition to eyewear and Valentino‘s beauty product range. A staircase leads to the second floor, where women’s shoes and ready-to-wear are showcased. The top floor is home to evening wear, displayed in two spacious rooms leading to private rooms designed for the most discerning of shoppers. The other entrance immediately leads to the men’s collection, featuring ready-to-wear and the entire accessories collection. Internal staircases leading to each floor create an architectural dialogue between the women’s and men’s spaces. © superfuture
