In its ongoing global retail expansion, COS has now entered a new booming—India. The London-based fashion brand has just opened up shop at Nexus Select Citywalk, a shopping centre in the bustling heart of New Delhi. Occupying a ground floor unit, the retail space has been designed by the in-house design team of COS, and can be seen as an exploration of contemporary craftsmanship, materiality and modern culture, reflected through curated furnishings to create an alluring shopping environment. Signalling cultural relevance, the store façade sees an Armourcoat clay lime plaster, its surface reacting uniquely to water minerals in application to form a natural, site-specific patina. Inside, this carefully calibrated aesthetic continues, featuring a similar backdrop paired with Grassi Pietre terrazzo floor tiles, composed of 90% recycled material, and hand-tufted wool Kasthall rugs.

Furnishings are few and functional, comprising sleek aluminium railing systems, recycled shelving by Smile Plastics, and a large-sized display table by Paper Factor which is crafted from recycled cellulose fibres and coloured with natural pigments. Mind you, the curated furnishings signal COS‘ reverence for timeless craftsmanship, and also include the striking Scarpa 925 chair by Cassina x Karakter, Resident‘s chunky Offset coffee table, colourful Bon Bon wall and table lamps by Copenhagen-based designer Helle Mardahl. Additionally, the store’s various spaces are softened by organic forms, featuring the iconic Pumpkin sofa designed by the late Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) for Ligne Roset, and NORR11‘s hand-upholstered ottomans. The new COS store carries women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, shoes, bags and jewellery pieces. © superfuture
