Scalable Malaysia’s Oppstar Microelectronics offices in Kuala Lumpur harmoniously integrate modern Scandinavian design principles with vibrant accents, fostering productivity and collaboration in a light-filled, efficient workspace inspired by integrated circuit layouts.

Taking inspiration from an IC design, Oppstar’s office layout is guided by the principles of precision, efficiency, and connectivity. We designed a workspace that maximises productivity with designated zones for collaboration, focus, and innovation such as the Chill Zone, workstations, and offsite design centres (ODCs), respectively. The seamless flow of information in an IC is mirrored in the floorplan: with minimal obstruction from the entrance area to the workstations, control room, meeting rooms, and lounge areas – allowing employees to navigate around easily without unnecessary barriers.

Oppstar embraced a modern Scandinavian design, characterised by mindful space utilisation and a sleek neutral palette accented with shades of blue to reflect their corporate identity. Featuring clean lines and expansive open areas, this design approach exhibits a sense of structure and lightness. Strategic bursts of vibrant colours introduce elements of energy and playfulness, creating a dynamic and inspiring environment for the team.

Oppstar’s corporate identity in blue and Vivid Cerulean takes centre stage, subtly enhanced by harmonious hues that bring vibrancy to the space. The pops of colour paired with strategic lighting not only breaks up the monotony but also energises the space. The pantry and Chill Zone area are designed as a refreshing retreat for employees to take their breaks and meals or to simply step away from their work desks. This area features a pantry island, vibrantly coloured booths, and café seating area. For a workforce that primarily operate on computers, the bar seating provides an opportunity for them to rest their eyes from prolonged screen exposure, with a panoramic view of the vast city skyline and outdoor greenery.

The workstations feature striking contrast of light and dark blue office chairs beneath a partially exposed ceiling, adding character and visual interest to the predominantly white space. The white walls and tables reflect the natural light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, enhancing brightness and creating a light and spacious feel throughout the office.
