Sometimes less is more. When centuries-old architecture is united with the sharpest lifestyle brands, a sophisticated, discreet and functional lighting scheme is exactly what is needed.
Located in a place steeped in Leeds’ history, Lambert’s Yard is a concept store, a creative event space and an incubator of talent. With brands such as Subversive Store, Antipodium, Murdock London and Number 35 as well as an array of events, the ambition is to make Leeds the Northern creative hub to rival London. Renowned Art Director and Interior Designer Johnny Button has worked with Holdsworth Design Practice to transform the historical building into a neutral, breathable and beautiful place. The interior design team turned to Northern Lights to supply a range of bespoke pendants and a track lighting system.
A key lighting feature throughout the place is the clear glass pendant. The elegant blown glass globe highlights the filament lamp, delivering a gentle and warm glow. The light is soft but just at the right level to give visitors comfortable and unobstructed access. A track lighting system with LED spotlights was installed in the retail area to highlight the interesting and eclectic assembly of products in the building. The clean and simple lines of the track system are a nice contrast to the rich original features.
There is an event space on the second floor with metal box pendants in the bar area. With a black outer and contrasting golden inner, the pendants are a vibrant addition to the interior. Unlike many other Northern Lights projects, there isn’t a single show-stopping large-scale feature in Lambert’s Yard. The appeal of the lighting scheme comes from the sophisticated and subtle combination of a sense of history and a taste of modern quirkiness. A very charming, delightful and memorable place. Northern Lights provides a bespoke one-stop lighting service.
