Studio Vapore redesigned the Middle School administration offices at the Western Academy of Beijing, transforming a compact cluster of rooms into a warm and functional hub for staff collaboration, student support, and parent meetings. The space needed to serve multiple roles: a daily workspace for teachers and administrators, a place for teamwork, and at times a setting for private or sensitive conversations with families. Privacy, clarity, and emotional comfort therefore became essential considerations.

A shared central zone anchors the layout, with surrounding rooms shaped through gentle arches and strong colour contrasts that bring identity and rhythm to the space. The architectural softness helps counter the small footprint, while the colour palette — a mix of greens and warm pink tones — creates an atmosphere that feels approachable yet professional.

Thoughtful lighting, acoustics, and material choices contribute to a sense of calm, supporting both focused work and confidential discussions. The design ensures that when parents or students step into the space, the environment feels welcoming, safe, and grounded.
