Although little known outside its home market, PRO-SPECS is a fixture in South Korea‘s retail landscape, operating a large number of standalone stores and shop-in-shops nationwide. Offering high-performance walking shoes, running shoes, and sportswear, the brand resonates well with savvy young consumers, and PRO-SPECS has now started to further enhance its brand image with design-led retail spaces. The latest outposts to open is in the Yongsan district of Seoul, and it’s the first one featuring a brand new look. Situated on a subterranean level of LS Yongsan Tower, a soaring 1980s office tower owned by LS Corporation, the brand’s parent company., the store occupyies a unit on level B1, featuring an interior design by local design practice uneg.

Encased entirely in floor-to-ceiling glass, the store sees an understated design captured by a monochromatic palette paired with metal elements, while timber accents soften the austerity, adding a warm and welcoming touch. Furnishings are few and simple, comprising a metal-clad sales counter near the entrance, wall-mounted shelving units with tilted frames lining the walls, paired with timber benches, a low terraced display unit, and two large-sized display units, of which one is double-sided, and all with similar tilted sides. The bare ceiling, revealing a myriad of utility pipes, is overlaid by several rows of suspended linear light fixtures. The new PRO-SPECS store carries a selection of men’s and women’s apparel, shoes and accessories. © superfuture
