Founded in 2010 by Thai entrepreneur Anupong ‘Pint’ Kuttikul, streetwear brand CARNIVAL has since taken the home market by storm, operating no less than six standalone boutiques across Bangkok, which all are a fixture in the retail landscape of a young and savvy demographic. The latest outpost to open, situated at One Bangkok, a prestigious mixed-use complex in the city’s Lumphini neighbourhood, offers the company’s fanbase an unprecedented design-led shopping environment. The interior design, created by Shanghai-based architecture practice studio profile, takes the brand’s retail operations to the next level, and it’s one that aims to reflect the diversity and sophistication of merchandise, and the richness of its community-driven events became. Concepted as a ‘house’ – or HAUS, in true CARNIVAL parlance – a place where to indulge in products of choice and where to connect with kindred spirits, the expansive 1,301 sqm. (14,004 sq.ft.) retail space sees a series of different ‘houses’, and each presenting a different section of CARNIVAL‘s extensive collection.
Accordingly, the houses come with a distinct identity and look, defined by a variety of materials, including stone, concrete, glass, and metal, a palette which symbolises the future, movement, and global connections. There’s a transparent glass POPUP HAUS which provides a flexible platform for collaborations, limited collections, and brand events, while a DJ HAUS, in an oversized house-shaped sofa in vibrant colours, hosts various cultural events. The light-filled ground floor is home to the timber-framed CAFE HAUS a.k.a. CARNIVAL Coffee where shoppers can sit back and recharge in between or after power shopping sprees. One floor up, shoppers can indulge in even more trophy items, all presented in a ‘house’, of course. There’s a timber-framed CARNIVAL Brand HAUS, presenting the brand’s in-house collections, a concrete Golf HAUS, a terrazzo-textured Running HAUS, a pristine white Sneaker HAUS, a metal-framed Multi-brand HAUS, and the colourful timber Fitting HAUS integrated with cashier functions. © superfuture
