Kontzamichalis, a jewellery maker with its own workshop and stores across Greece, asked for more than a new point of sale: the boutique was to launch a new corporate identity for the brand. At just 17 m², it sits inside the lobby of a beachfront resort in Rhodes and had to make its presence felt without competing with the hotel around it.
The answer came from the view outside. The jewellery is displayed against blue onyx-effect porcelain that echoes the sea just beyond the resort, so the pieces seem to float in the colour of the Aegean. Walnut-toned timber brings warmth, and custom display cases with a distinctive sloped base frame every piece like a small exhibit. At the heart of the space, a custom table in Kitro granite rests on a slender gold powder-coated steel base, so the heavy stone appears almost weightless; this is where each piece is presented to the client by hand. The lighting was designed specifically for high-value jewellery, so every stone comes alive without glare.
Visitors step into a feeling of luxury that is fresh and light, never cut off from the seaside setting. The studio’s favourite detail is the blue onyx itself: a surface that invites you to dream, as if you had stepped into a fairy-tale space.
