For the WIP13 (Work in Progress 2013) competition under the Projecto Casa event, one was challenged to build a 2X2m stand that could express a innovative and experimental use of some particular construction materials. Linoleum, a versatile product used many times in domestical spaces, has a wide range of application in the architecture of spaces due to its unique characteristics that can render to the surfaces a high quality and comfort to the domestic environment.

Nevertheless, the tridimensionality of the product Linoleum has often been left out and unexplored by architecture. The object FoFoFo is a \”folie\” that tries to explore the tridimensionality of Forbo’s linoleum product taking advantage of its physical characteristics (2X25m) as well as its mechanical and chromatic nuances to build a experimental voluptuous space.

The object is made out of MDF in a simple reticulated structure in which the linoleum sheet of 25meters long is folded across the entire structure in a single sweep: up the wall, ceiling and down to the floor. The subtle use of the linoleum sheets forming a series of voluptuous waves that can render a unique and distinctive image where one could explore the tridimensional meshes and textures confers the uniqueness of this stand/installation.

FoFoFo is an ephemeral or temporary stand is a environment friendly making use of recyclable and natural products (such as MDF and Linoleum) that can easily be assembled and/or disassembled due to its intuitive wood joinery with no need for glues or screws.
