Generally the space above head height is just void for only looking in a boutique, because most of the action for buying and selling is centered close to human body. To avoid this condition, we installed imaginary ceiling made by expand-metal at 2.25m high and set up stepped platform that allows shoppers to reach the attic.

Lara by Sinato, Kofu

At a clothing store in Kofu, Japan, a geometrical ceiling installation forms a unique lattice roof that separates the shopping area and ‘void’ space. Designer Chikara Ohno says since the space is long and narrow with two opposide facades, he wanted to connect the area inbetween.

Rolls by Sinato at Diesel Denim Gallery, Tokyo

As part of their ongoing series, Diesel Denim Gallery in Aoyama, Tokyo is currently presenting ‘Rolls’, an installation by Chikara Ohno from the japanese design studio Sinato. ‘Rolls’ consists of a single length of aluminum sheet thread throughout the space, forming large rolls on the ground at intervals.
