This project has been begun for using a blank space at MVL hotel which is recently established hotel next to the Ilsan Kintex in Seoul, and the space designed for bakery and wine shop. In accordance with remands of client, designer tried to overcome the limit of the location which is located at back of the main entrance.

In addition, he created sculptural structure to develop the lobby design and then the sculptures are connected from the shop to the entrance area, and it could make the shop to be perceived well from the entrance. Furthermore, designer attempted to create a huge sculptural space by using the sculptural cupboard which looks a bottom of column and arch object.

The designer planned the lobby and the façade of the shop as one of sculpture on the ground with sculptural elements by using an open plan, openings and high ceiling. Thus, it could provide people to get nice mumps and then it could emboss awareness of the shop.

Arch shape structure and classical layered molding which is harmonized with façade reinterpet an arch of old winery in the middle age as modern, and the arch, that could be seen frequently through a space having historical background in Europe, has been used as architectural skill for deep of repeated shape and daylight into the space. Furthermore, the arch made deeply cave shaped space into the large lobby, and also it try to make independent spaces in accordance with characteristics of bakery and wine.

Especially, as factor of space, arch structure has been designed by line and face and column object and molding which are layered on the element of the face extremely emphasize the detail. In addition, it makes an independent structure by resisting and adapting the curve of the arch and the harmony of the massive object, curved line, horizontal line and faces, makes dynamic and live space. Thus, the design elements have planned unique, luxury and emblematic space of MVL Hotel as a deluxe hotel.

The image motivation of is reminded wandering sailboat which follows daylight through layered arches in a culvert in Europe that country has developed canal system.

These days, through a lot of shops that are benchmarked European designs and vintage concept shops, people could marvel for the design of its output of neat and classy. However, actually, on the sites, it is really difficult to bring sensibility of history. In Europe, you can see that European do remodeling a culvert of Thames River to pubs with protecting historical structures of Thames riverside and the design shows cultural and emotional values. Thus, we need to run back our historical space again and approach with new viewpoint.
