The design process began around three floating wooden boxes which contain meeting rooms. These boxes both break the rigid regularity of the linear axes and serve as orientation points in the space. Upon this base, the main design principals were layered.

The Opposite House hotel by Kengo Kuma, Beijing

Once inside the the green facade provides a soft screen for privacy and comfort where the expansive atrium blurs the activities of the hotel. Situated in the center of the space guests can visit a contemporary gallery which features artwork by ten Chinese artist who have interpreted the facade into textile pieces.
