We have opened our first HE BY MANGO boutique, dedicated exclusively to the men’s collection. This new store, located at number 586 of the busy Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, is over 500 m2 in area. This new store shows our commitment to strengthening our recent move into fashion for men, without leaving to one side the women’s collection, which remains our priority range.
The atmosphere in HE boutiques is very different to other MANGO stores. One of the main features is their warmth, the result of gold spotlights in the store lighting scheme. The furnishings are finished in gold and black and display the HE logo, a unicorn. The decoration includes antique items, leather Chesterfield sofas and cow skin rugs. The other details that help to define the character of this space include bevelled glass, antique-effect parquet and dark coloured wallpaper patterned with the unicorn logo.
The men’s collection is aimed at the young man who is in tune with fashion trends. This is exemplified in the acronym which gives the brand its name, a shortening of the Latin expression Homini Emerito, “a man who enjoys his rewards in keeping with his merits”. For the Autumn/Winter 08 season, we have gone for Argyle knits, Aran sweaters, checks, traditional knitted shapes, stripes, cord and velveteen. There are essentially two main lines in the collection: URBAN, in which suit jackets are mixed with fine knits, jeans, flat shoes, foulards and large leather bags; and GREENFOREST, in which particular attention is paid to details on outerwear garments, combining trench coats, cotton or thick knitted sweaters, cord trousers, biker boots and canvas bags.
With this new project, we are moving towards the concept of the multi-label store, a space containing collections by different designers and in different styles, within the same brand. With this in mind, we have commissioned the renowned US designer Adam Lippes to design two new limited edition collections, one for women and one for men, for the Spring/Summer 09 and Autumn/Winter 09/10 seasons. Both collections will consist of 12 complete looks and will be on sale in all of the countries where MANGO is present.
