A new Kringwinkel (Op Shop) opened its doors in Mechelen this month, in Oude Baan, Industriepark Noord 1F, Mechelen. As Mojo is the CSR (corporate social responsibility) partner of Komosie, the parent organisation of De Kringwinkel, Mojo designed and implemented the shop concept for this new establishment.
Kringwinkels sell original, low cost and good quality second hand goods. Mojo was given the task of lending form to this customer-friendly yet profit-oriented shop while making it attractive to budget shoppers and treasure hunters.
Given the large space (1300 m2) and diversity of the product range, the shop was split into theme-based corners organised around a central counter. An intuitive route leads shoppers through a well structured and inspiring universe. Each product category was given its own experience space: a coffee corner and reading lounge for the books section, a place for listening to CDs in the music corner and a kids’ corner – in between the toys and clothing – with plenty to keep the little ones occupied. The various corners are separated by both open and closed structures. The concept is supported by clear signage in the form of simple, stylised wall illustrations designating the respective categories.
Mojo opted for a sleek design with a few ethnic influences. The basic interior primarily consists of a mix of multiplex and white elements, complemented by subtle colour accents for each category. Taking into account the very broad and diverse product range, Mojo allowed for flexible furnishings which left room for commercial dynamics. As a result, browsing and rummaging in this new Kringwinkel is a sheer delight for treasure hunters and budget-conscious shoppers in and around Mechelen.
Mojo, the shopper relation agency, brings the ultimate in new, better and durable customer relations through a mix of sharp creativity and insights into shopper needs, against a background of contemporary social trends.
