Retail design consultancy Sheridan&Co has created 14 showcases to exhibit a limited edition whisky celebrating the 50-year career of Balvenie’s renowned Malt Master. Sheridan&Co has designed the bespoke podiums for Balvenie Fifty, the limited edition whisky released exactly 50 years to the day since David Stewart joined the highland distillery as a 17-year-old apprentice.
The whisky is from a cask of The Balvenie single malt distilled in 1962. Only 88 bottles are available worldwide. David Stewart’s 50 years of devotion to his craft has garnered the respect of his peers in the whisky industry as one of the most respected craftsmen in his field.
The display was designed and manufactured in Sheridan&Co’s Market Harborough HQ, using luxury materials to compliment the unique product. Bespoke brass work, hand-turned brass nuts, leather and moulded glass commissioned from local experts in the East Midlands were used to highlight the craftsmanship and dedication required in the production of a fine whisky. Each podium will house a single bottle of whisky. The first unit – showcasing its very special whisky – has just been exhibited at Changi Apirport, Singapore, followed by further premium retail sites in key international whisky markets in coming weeks.
Freddie Sheridan, Account Director at Sheridan&Co, said: “We enjoy working with a brand that attaches such importance to the handcrafted nature of every item of retail furniture as this allows our team to work with classic materials such as real wood, glass and brass.” David Stewart estimates that he has nosed over 400,000 whisky casks, and said: “Cask 5576 and I have shared the last five decades together at The Balvenie Distillery. It’s a great delight to discover how after half a century this unique cask has turned out a truly special single malt.”
