For the latest in its Together series of stores by prominent designers, Camper has unveiled a cheerfully vivid shop in Rotterdam’s pedestrianized Lijnbaan. Designed by Argentinia-born, Zurich-based talent Alfredo Häberli, the glass-fronted store adds a vibrant splash of interest to its surroundings. A graphic pattern of electric blue dots covers the front windows, while zingy stripes of colour coat shelves and Camper’s signature red coats the floor. Inside, large white fish motifs continue Häberli’s aquarium concept, which he first used in Camper’s shop in San Sebastián, Spain.

‘We tried to achieve as much exterior projection as possible, installing large windows and using the configuration of the premises – an island in the middle of the street – to convey the impression of an aquarium,’ Häberli says. ‘The closer one comes, the more the eye is drawn to the most important part: Camper shoes. With their shapes, materials and colours they look like coral, algae or exotic shellfish floating in a large aquarium.’

Häberli, who began working with the quirky Spanish shoe brand five years ago and as designed Camper stores in Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Valencia, London, Naples, Málaga, Seoul (the world’s largest Camper store), and San Sebastián.
