The Scottish Borders, 1874, two men had a vision, a single-minded sense of purpose married with craftsmanship and integrity. From humble beginnings making women’s knitted under garments, Mr Lyle and Mr Scott soon expanded into knitwear quickly gaining a reputation for superior quality products leading to exclusive lines of cashmere knits in collaboration with Christian Dior, Yves St Laurent, Chanel, Bergdorf Goodman and Liberty from the 1950’s -1980’s.
The birth of the eagle logo in the 1960’s saw Lyle & Scott develop into the must-have golf brand. In ’75 they were awarded a Royal Warrant by appointment of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh who favoured their famous lambswool sweaters – an accolade still honored today.
The values of 1874 have never been stronger and the SS14 collection again establishes Lyle & Scott as a progressive, independent and resolutely Scottish brand. Drawing on the brands unique regional provenance and golf heritage the Vintage collection contemporises iconic, archive pieces drawn from the brands 140 year old archive – classic British sportswear with attitude and edge.
