Shanghai ICC is a swanky new mixed-use complex in the middle of Shanghai which consists of two office towers, a residential section and a matching shopping mall. A hub where living at large is celebrated, it’s home to many a luxury brand and it isn’t incidental that Givenchy has opened its third and newest flagship store in the city here. It’s located on the ground floor and occupies a spacious unit of 205 sqm. [2,207 sq.ft.] and features the brand’s newest retail aesthetics. The façade reveals a matte metallic surface that provides a contrasting texture to the expansive shop windows. A bold brass motif emerges from a black composite of aluminium and resin, and is inspired by the cross-like t-cut, Givenchy’s signature stitching featured on the back of its apparel items and certain accessories.
The shop interior is somewhat of a trip down memory lane as it takes cues from the iconic Givenchy boxes that used to deliver its precious Haute Couture garments. Four room-sized boxes made of black burnt oak display women’s and men’s clothing. The interiors of both boxes showing womenswear are clad in white marble while the menswear boxes have a bolder look and are clad in grey volcanic stone. The accessories are presented on shelves covered with book-matched calacatta marble, and on water-drop shaped displays in various materials. A natural oak herringbone parquet that’s reminiscent of Givenchy’s legendary Paris couture salons has been used as flooring.
