Jac + Jack has set up shop at Emporium Melbourne, the newly opened supermall in downtown Melbourne. The Australian fashion brand continues to expand its retail network but does so without the generic design approach of many other brands. This is jac + jack’s fourth store, and is a renewed collab with Sydney-based architect George Livissianis. Occupying a unit on the second floor, the shop stands out through large-scale sweeping plywood doors which ingeniously fold back into the wall. When closed, they interlock with the plinth that provides a handle-like seal at the store front. The pelmet and ceiling replicate an ombre effect that’s incorporated into the design of the store in Paddington.

However, the finish increases in intensity from light to dark vertically rather than horizontally and the plinth in the centre is a scaled back version of the aforementioned store. The design is a hybrid blend of the brand’s existing stores in both Melbourne and Sydney. Used materials include plywood, concrete, steel, marble and belgian linen. Blackened and white coated steel and bespoke, hand-crafted brass fixtures from an artisan metal worker round out the stores measures for display. The new jac + jack store carries the brand’s full range of men’s and women’s collections.
