Gaastra is a international, functional nautical lifestyle company with a performance and casual clothing line for men, women and children. Gaastra is famous for the perfect balance between “ fashion and function “ with the famous words of Douwe Gaastra ( 1897 ) in mind “ you don’t ask the sea any questions, you dress to the occasion “ Gaastra constructs clothing that’s comfortable to wear and keeps you warm and dry when needed as is nice to look at.

Gaastra asked Werkstatt65 to design a overall new look and feel for an expected store at the Leidsestraat in Amsterdam, but the first implementation of our concept was given to the new shop at the Bijenkorf. Werkstatt65 came up with a form language that reflects the sailing heritage of the Gaastra brand and did take it to a new level. Real teak, steel and with the look and feel of brass combines with the form languages you find on a sailboat, we constructed a new and flexible shop system. It is unmistakably sailing so it is Gaastra.
