DesignLSM created the fresh interiors for Kupp, a new and innovative casual all day food & drink concept with a distinct Scandi twist.
The site is a large, light space; being surrounded by floor to ceiling windows on three sides, that overlook the Paddington Basin. The design was carefully considered to embrace a Scandinavian vibe and encompass a variety of functional uses, such as a coffee bar, lounge & seating and a restaurant – creating a chameleon venue. The designers utilised bold fresh colours to take advantage of the natural light and zoned each area through the use of colour and varying materials – specifically flooring using a combination of concrete, wood and hexagonal tiles – creating a visual journey for the guest, guiding them to their relevant destination
Lighting is a key element within the space – the vast amount of natural daylight knocked back the lighting so the fixtures had to be the feature themselves. However in the evening the lights animate each space creating different moods dependent on the area. The bar is more vibrant, whereas the restaurant is more intimate. Practicality and effective use of space where key considerations. For example; there is no room for cellar space on site so the cellar was designed above the bar; creating a feature of the beer barrels hung on the wall.
DesignLSM worked closely with the branding team to ensure that the Kupp brand was accentuated and reflected in the interiors – creating a striking new concept with the aim to open further stores within the UK and Scandinavia.
