Ever since Café-Restaurant Engels opened its doors, in the early nineteen fifties, it has been a house hold name for the people of Rotterdam. Located in the important post war ‘Groothandelsgebouw’ Engels has been revitalized by Studio Linse, creating symbiosis between its flamboyant history and the present time by designing a timeless interior of openness, transparency and natural warmth. A combination of old and new furniture, the re-use of the fifties-wooden flooring and the new spectacular bar as a dramatic centre piece are just some of the highlights that bring character to this eclectic spacious place where people are welcomed throughout the whole day, from the early morning until the late evening. An all day concept that was completed in 2015.
