Only two years after opening her first boutique in New York City’s Nolita neighbourhood, fashion designer Rachel Comey has expanded to the U.S. west coast, opening up shop amidst high-end peers in what arguably is the most coveted pocket for shopping in Los Angeles. Situated in a lowrise red brick building from the late 1940s, the retail space measures 2,600 sq.ft. [approx. 242 sqm.] and features an interior design that seamlessly matches the modern bohemiam style the brand has gained a solid reputation with. A collab effort of architects Elizabeth Roberts, Linda Taalman and interior designer Charles de Lisle, the aesthetic is an extrapolation of the design codes as reflected by the first store in New York City.
The palette is meticulously calibrated, and combines a variety of materials and textures, including an exposed wooden ceiling, flooring of concrete terrazzo, a chunky granite-clad trapezoid display, and a cool selection of furnishings, either custom-made or carefully sourced, creating a setting that subtly hints the allure of a well-designed private home. The new Rachel Comey store carries the brand’s full range of women’s apparel, shoes, bags and accessories.
