Dalziel & Pow helps David Jones take its first international steps with new store in Wellington NZ. David Jones has marked a first in its 178-year history with the opening of its first international store in the New Zealand capital, Wellington.
Highly anticipated by local shoppers, the concept in Lambton Quay has been deemed to be a retail revolution creating a destination in the area. The store has given the city a new level of retail luxury, and features a specially curated assortment of David Jones’ best local and international brands.
David Jones’ flagship New Zealand store occupies the heritage listed building that previously housed Wellington department store Kirkcaldie & Stains. Following a $20+ million refurbishment, the new David Jones store features the same contemporary, internationally awarded design ethos created by London-based agency Dalziel & Pow that debuted at Eastland, Melbourne last year. Upgrades include the addition of escalators, air conditioning and premium fixtures and finishes throughout. Also central to this design is enhancement of the customer experience with inspiring spaces and dynamic visual merchandising.
The site in Wellington follows a strong year for David Jones, as the brand continues to invest in design to deliver world-class shopping experiences, with openings in Eastland Melbourne, Pacific Fair Gold Coast and a new premium Accessories Hall at its Bourke Street store, Melbourne.
David Dalziel, Creative Director at Dalziel & Pow said “This is a logical next step for David Jones, the new store brings a new level of style to the location. The latest iteration of the design concept is crisp, clean and supportive of the multiband offer, but the added value comes from the focus on service and the customer – a future differentiator for the Department Store sector.”
David Jones will open its first small format store at Barangaroo, Sydney this Spring, offering an edited range of high value, high fashion ranges to a discerning local catchment.
