With technology being our way of life these days, it’s no surprise that designers use it as well to make their work lives easier. Case in point, Luca Nichetto, of Nichetto Studio, and Oki Sato, of Nendo, joined forces to design a modular seating system for &tradition and it came about virtually.
The two prolific designers co-created the design through a process of going back and forth with ideas inspired by Japanese poetry. The result is Isole, which is Italian for ‘islands’, a unique sofa system that allows for various configurations.
Isole features rounded cushions that rest atop a powder coated base that leaves a slight space between each seat. You can choose from different combinations, including versions with or without an “island” arm rest, as well as attached round, square, or rectangular side tables. It’s available as a one-seater, two-seater, and three-seater in four color options.
