The concept behind the design for Beauty Bar was “come undone”. The idea being that at its most primitive level, beauty is defined as something eye catching and memorable, something that you instantly feel a raw attraction to. Thus, we arrived at our perception of a deliberate exposing of what lies beneath. This meant we were aiming to create a salon that was elegant yet had a very raw, unfinished feel to it.
Therefore, the ground floor emanates a familiar feeling, as if one has walked into their own homes with a bright, inviting ambiance. The use of a material palette full of reflective qualities such as mirrors, brass bring a delicate feel to the place whilst the use of exposed brick walls and metal fittings give the place a rather raw feel, more in tune for our younger audience. The design of the space centres around a free standing styling station created with a single log of wood 12′ long, held up by only 6 super slim sexy legs. This island is the organising feature of the space, and the most exciting part of the design.
From the get go, we wanted to ensure that this salon was not like any other in Pakistan. This meant staying away from typical themes like “zen” and avoiding the use of pebbles or water fountains that seem to have become a trend done much too often. Majority of the furniture and fixtures were also custom designed and fabricated by our own in house teams, to make the whole experience bespoke, luxurious and unique. The branding and logo was also designed holistically, every image and nuance a shared vision with our graphic designer partner,
