With over 20,000 KFC outlets in more than 125 countries and territories around the world, it was an honour to be trusted with the design of their Flagship Sydney store. KFC opened it’s doors to the Australian market back in 1968, and since then has seen many evolutions in terms of design.
“We worked closely with the team at KFC to deliver a fresh new look. We manipulated the KFC “standard” palette by adding extra layers of texture and warmth.” Says Alexandra Morris from MorrisCo Design. Hanging plants, custom booth seats and weatherboard cladding were adopted. While warm timbers and reclaimed terracotta tiles were used to frame the counter area.
“We approached MorrisCo Design directly when we came across the diversity of work they have delivered in the hospitality industry. MorrisCo Design was able to develop a new vision, playing on KFC’s past yet providing a contemporary and dynamic approach while staying on brand. An important requirement was their ability to develop and work with our existing brand guidelines and palette.” says Harry Poullos from KFC.
