Design studio Space Objekt spearheaded the design, furniture and styling of Nineteen80 – a unique new concept bar in the Tanjong Pagar District in Singapore. A fusion of interior and set design. The design aesthetic focuses on reinventing classic 1980’s design cues, with a modern twist. Using reclaimed materials with a backstory – such as original cassette tapes – and combining them in ways that are sensorially rich within the space.

The concept by Space Objekt sees eclectic touches that blend with classic 80’s icons. The entrance, for instance, is a ribbed pink light vortex that plays with mirrors and light. Artwork – created by Mojoko – references iconic arcade games and complements the playful aspiration of the space. The purpose of which is to create a clean space with a sense of nostalgia of the era.

Space Objekt was founded by Danish born Tina Fung and Singaporean Ashraf Razaque. Their studio is based in Singapore and builds upon 10 years of design experience collectively. Space Objekt specialises in creating memorable experiences where people interact within space. Their work focuses predominantly in the medium of built environments, from small scale props to immersive larger-than-life installations. Space Objekt’s most notable successes include the conception and delivery of experiential activations for the likes of DBS, Prudential, Sephora, Red Bull, Haagen Daz, Grab and Pernod Ricard. With projects spanning festivals, live events, pop-ups and interior design.
