“Keen-kichijoji” is a hair salon in Kichijoji, Tokyo.
Kichijoji is known as a fashionable place and particularly is a place where “oldness” and “newness” are fused, such as latest fashion shops are placed in an old shopping street.
The lightings used in “Keen-kichijoji” have been already consumed widely in our society, such as primitive lamps, neon tubes, and fluorescent lighting boxes. Therefore it can be said that they are not a novelty. However, by the combination of the basic structure of monotones such as white stone plate and black frame, it can be illustrated kind of a contemporary impression.
The hair salon, accordingly, indicates a contemporary design combining oldness and newness in order to represent the character of Kichijoji.
