HORST is a hardware store which isn’t one. The new “maker’s store” presents itself open and clear with an innovative architecture in a well-chosen location. The 750qm large retail space is equipped with central squares and honeycombed-like shelve structures. The heart of the honeycomb structure has a surprisingly customer centered approach: It offers a walk-in color fan rather than a booklet of tiny samples, a “connector-cabin” with screws instead of shelves, alongside a floating light dome to choose the ideal lighting. A real bar and life-sized balcony offer additional inspiration. The modular floorplan offers flexibility contrary to endless corridors with shelves and can be remodeled at any time.
