Following a lengthy hiatus filled with much-publicised unfortunate events, daily life in Hong Kong is slowly getting back on track. Although the local economy has packed a firm punch or two, it shows resilience and promise – both traits of a truly great metropolis, if you ask us – at the same time, and the retail scene proves to be a good gauge of this rebound. The Antonia store in Milan, founded little over two decades ago by husband-and-wife team Antonia Giacinti and Maurizio Purificato, is the preferred address of in-the-know shoppers from both the Lombardian capital and far beyond. By teaming up with Modern Avenue Group, a fashion distributor headquartered in Guangzhou, the retailer expanded to the Far East in 2016, opening its first outpost in Macau. And now, only four years later, Antonia adds to Hong Kong‘s highly sophisticated retail landscape with a second multi-brand store in the region, situated at K11 Musea, the city’s newest luxury shopping destination.
Situated in the mall’s Muse Edition annex dedicated to exclusive designer fashion trophies, the so-called K11|ANTONIA boutique occupies a 5,700 sq.ft. (530 sqm.) unit and features an interior design by Italian architect, designer and longtime collaborator Vincenzo de Cotiis. The premises see three distinct yet free-flowing spaces dedicated to men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and women’s accessories, featuring a variety of striking design elements, including mirrors, smoky glass, rustic stained glass, steel, brass and marble in a colourful palette of gold, grey, beige and blurry pink. The boldest standout fixtures arguably are a translucent pink sneaker wall crafted from specially treated fibreglass, a custom-sculpted curved marble ‘installation’ island, and last but not least, hyper-realistic mannequins modelled after real people using a special three-dimensional scanning and printing technique. The new K11|ANTONIA store carries a wide range of top brands, all curated by Giacinti and Purificato, and includes names such as Loewe, Heron Preston, Sacai, Jacquemus, Rick Owens and Nike.
