Founded only six years ago by husband and wife team Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, high-end womenswear brand Totême has ridden the wave of Swedish fashion’s global success with its clean understated silhouettes, gaining a discerning following both home and abroad. Still privately owned, the development of the coveted brand is tightly controlled, and it wasn’t until year that Totême opened its first standalone store in the heart of Stockholm. Still favouring the homeland over markets overseas, the brand has now opened a shop-in-shop on the premises of Nordiska Kompaniet, the Swedish capital’s leading department store. The design of the store, created by Swedish architect Christian Halleröd, acknowledges the building’s historic architectural identity by taking cues from the 19th century Vienna Secession movement, resulting in clear graphic accents and the bold use of natural materials. Furnishings are distinctly modern, comprising of sleek metal clothing racks and shelving, in addition to custom-made seating and displays upholstered in a striking black & white motif. The new Totême shop-in-shop carries an edited selection of seasonal collections, iconic garments, shoes and accessories.
