With the eagerly anticipated opening of Monsieur George, a new property of Les Hôtels Monsieur just off bustling avenue des Champs-Elysées, a new hotel with plenty of character has nestled, adding intimate boutique accommodation to the highly competitive upper echelon of Paris‘ hospitality scene. The hotel occupies a typical Hausmannian building and features just 46 guestrooms and suites spread across five floors. It’s the hospitality group’s fifth property in the French capital, but the very first with a five-star rating, and it’s named after George Washington, the first president of the United States who lent his name to the road along which Monsieur George is situated. For this ambitious project tapped acclaimed London-based interior designer Anouska Hempel to work her magic, and the result is a series of alluring, plush settings with a strong sense of home. The guestrooms and suites come in seven different categories, each obviously designed with modern comfort and technology in mind, but also high on style. Distinctly classic with a slightly playful touch, the rooms feature double queen-size beds, checkerboard floors, mirrors, and black lacquered finishes. Some of the rooms come with balconies overlooking rue Washington. The top floor houses the Junior Suites and Benjamin Franklin Suites.
Boasting a soft and romantic atmosphere, the pads are multi-tonal white with touches of pale grey and accentuated by gauzy curtains embossed with flowers of Kerala, and in front of windows opening onto rooftop terraces. For those who love to splurge, the lavish Garden Suite is readily available. Designed as a tranquil sanctuary, the 45 sqm. (484 sq.ft.) duplex suite features a private garden-facing grand living room, and upstairs, a decadent bathroom and bedroom which leads out to the terrace. Among the excellent facilities is Galanga, the hotel’s very own gourmet restaurant and bar on the ground floor. As the culinary exponent of this cosmopolitan hotel, the stylish dining venue offers sophisticated Asian fusion cuisine in a an elegant garden-like setting. Just beyond the kitchen, a hidden door with a staircase leads down to the basement where you will find Monsieur George’s wine cellar. A private dining table seats up to eight people sits amid the walls of some of the best wines where guests can eat well from sharing plates of cheese and charcuterie, and drink even better. In Paris, living the good life can take its toll, but once again, Monsieur George readily comes to the rescue. The Spa by Le Tigre, situated in the basement section of the property, is an alcoved space dedicated to relaxation and well-being with a mosaïc black and white tiled sauna and steam room, and offering not only a variety of massages, but also facials, manicures and pedicures to continue looking your best.
