As part of a series of pop-up stores opening around the planet, dedicated exclusively to a special ski capsule collection designed by men’s creative director Kim Jones and renowned ski apparel brand Descente, AK Ski and POC. Obviously, Dior has included a location in New York City. Situated in Soho, wedged in between the brand’s very own downtown flagship store and the Linda Farrow boutique on Greene Street, the compact retail space is designed by its in-house retail design team. The setting features an immersive floor-to-ceiling installation of LED mesh screens which continuously project illuminating patterns. The nifty technology isn’t there for purely decorative purposes, as it amplifies the colours used in the capsule collection which were inspired by the hypnotic polar lights. Displayed on brushed metal shelving and transparent rails with chrome detailing is an assortment of the collection, while the back wall, adorned with the Dior logo, sees a display of the coveted snowboard, skis and related accessories. (open through Jan 3).
