Bigger and better—Comme des Garçons has returned to rue du faubourg St.-Honoré, combined with rue St.-Honoré, one of the most prestigious shopping arteries in the French capital. The store measures 800 sqm. (8,611 sq.ft.) spread across four floors – only 620 sqm. (6,674 sq.ft.) is dedicated to retail – of a mid-19th century building, and features, similarly to all Comme des Garçons retail spaces across the planet, a highly distinctive interior design by Rei Kawakubo, the brand’s widely hailed creative director, and its in-house design team. The large ground floor windows don’t give away much to passers-by other than a few chairs against a bright red backdrop, and surely aim to induce curiosity. Well, it may not come as a surprise, but there’s a lot to discover and explore at the new Comme des Garçons store. The red hue is very much an integral part of the design theme, captured by lacquered backdrops and ditto furnishings.

The eye-catching hue is counterbalanced by white walls and matching barrel-shaped shelving units, fixtures of untreated timber, and last but not least, concrete flooring. As we’ve previously hinted, the new Comme des Garçons store’s offerings are unprecedented for Paris and part of it is even world-exclusive. The ground floor presents the lines Comme des Garçons, Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Comme des Garçons Girl and Comme des Garçons Parfums. The basement section is home to the Comme des Garçons Shirt, Comme des Garçons Shirt Forever and Black Comme des Garçons collections. Up om the first floor, the Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons and Comme des Garçons Homme Deux lines can be found, while the store’s top floor is reserved for the collections of Junya Watanabe and Junya Watanabe Man, in addition to Beatles Comme des Garçons and Comme des Garçons Homme. Mind you, the new boutique in Paris is also the only one on the planet which carries Comme des Garçons furniture, and a re-edition in red has been especially made for the store.
