The Land of the Rising Sun has always been an important market for Louis Vuitton, and despite having a sizeable retail network nationwide, numerous pop-up stores have opened over the years to keep the savvy local following on its toes. But now, an ephemeral retail space has opened in the plush ski resort of Niseko, and as far as we know, that’s an absolute first. Situated a two-hour car drive southwest from Sapporo, opposite the swanky premises of the Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono hotel and within sight of mighty Mount Yotei, the Louis Vuitton pop-up store has opened its doors. The pop-up store comprises a gallery space where a curated range of women’s and men’s travel luggage, leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, fragrances, watches and jewellery is presented, in addition to a large yurt-shaped pavilion where shoppers can sit back and relax, surrounded by additional merchandise from the Louis Vuitton universe (open through Feb 25).
